What it all comes down to with the Martin / Zimmerman incident… Would Martin still be alive if Zimmerman would have stayed in his car and not follow Martin like he was ordered to by law enforcement? YES. What is the punishment that Zimmerman should receive? I don’t know. I’m not a lawyer, judge or jury. Should he receive some kind of manslaughter punishment or 2nd or 3rd degree murder charge? This is real, people. It is not some reality show. It is real. One man killed another because he did not stay in his car and wait for the police as he was told to do by the 911 dispatcher. He took it upon himself to follow Trayvon.
Now others are howling that what he did was self defense. For sure a kung googoo foo master may have been able to kill a person with a bag of Skittles, but Trayvon was not such a person. He was a troubled kid on his way home from a convenience store.

Following someone is not illegal. He was never given a “police order” to stop following Trayvon. 911 dispatchers cannot give orders. The call indicates that even when it was suggested he stop, he did (“we don’t need you to do that” “ok” then conversation about the streets and location). This case has nothing to do with “stand your ground” laws as you discuss above. Your entire analysis is flawed and ridiculous. Self-defense only requires a fear of great bodily harm. As soon as Trayvon is on top of him pummeling him that fear is realized. Should he have gotten out of his vehicle? No. Was getting out a crime? No. Should Trayvon have come back to pick a fight? No. Both were wrong and one is dead because of it. And, honestly, had Trayvon killed Zimmerman, I would support his acquittal as well. Unfortunately, whoever came out alive from that confrontation was in the right.
911 dispatchers are trained police officers. He was disobeying a police order by getting out of his car and following.

The dispatcher went on CNN and said unequivocally that they do not have the authority to command anything. They can suggest. But for liability purposes they cannot instruct someone to do something with any authority.

I guarantee it.” There is appropriate times to say things or advertise your company and that was definitely not one of those times. And now One Trillion Moms is stating, “I’m sick of liberals asking what would have happened if the races were reversed. If Trayvon had been white, he wouldn’t been walking down a Florida street in the hot night. He would have driven home in his unstolen vehicle. And if Zimmerman were black, he wouldn’t have been patrolling the neighborhood. He’d have been hitting the pipe.” This case is just wrong. It’s full of masturbation, suits from the Men’s Wearhouse and now crack cocaine. I think the jury made a serious mistake finding George Zimmerman not guilty.

His reason why Zimmerman is guilty is because he got out of his car after calling the cops which is stupid it makes no difference if he followed him after he called or if he didnt call and just followed him. Point is he followed him somehow got into a fight and got his ass kicked and ended up defending himself a call doesn’t change that.

If Zimmerman was a black man. Al Sharpton and all the black protester wouldn’t have entertained the story and therefore the original police outcome would have sticked.

There’s a lot of ‘what ifs’ regarding if one side or another did something different and how it would’ve turned out. In the end it’s all immaterial as those things didn’t occur and we can only base it off what did occur. One fact is that things like this happen all the time all over the world, so one has to wonder why this one got so much attention, and that falls to the main point of those crying foul – racism.
The other problem here is, they charged Zimmerman with murder, not manslaughter. He acted in self-defense and therefore is not guilty of murder. Had they tried him for manslaughter, then he might have stood a chance at being found guilty, but they wanted murder and nothing less.
Regardless of the other circumstances, they were both in a public place and he defended himself against someone who was assaulting him. There is not justifiable provocation by any legal standpoint for Trayvon to have launched an attack on Zimmerman in the first place. If I’m cutting through people’s yards and between people’s houses and someone comes up asking me what the hell I’m doing, I find that rather understandable and while I would be on my guard and probably pissed at them for not minding their own business…I’d answer them rather than just attack. I’m an unknown person to them, and they are to me – neither side knows what weapons the other may have or what they are capable of, but if I’m cutting through yards and shit, I should know that I’m already in the wrong.
A passive person, as someone previously mentioned, would not just up and attack someone out of the blue just for apparently following them or asking them what they’re doing – so you might want to rethink that as that behavior means you are a highly aggressive person, not passive in the slightest.
I’ve not followed this whole thing all that closely, but I seem to recall seeing that the 911 operator even asked him what race the person was before he started following them and he said that he couldn’t tell. What, do people think that if he had followed him and had found out that he was white he’d be like “You’re cool man.” and then just walk away? I firmly believe that had Trayvon not been black(outcome would still have been the same), or if Zimmerman had been black as well, this would have never have been blown up into racist Al Sharpton’s further national embarrassment.
So, in conclusion, there’s a lot of ‘could have been’ going on here. Neither side did things very intelligently, but Zimmerman was not really in the wrong. It would have been smarter for him to not get out of his car, yes, which is why the 911 person advised that they didn’t need him to get out and follow – it was to protect Zimmerman from potentially getting the very ass beating that he got. Trayvon also probably wouldn’t have been viewed as acting suspicious if he had just been walking down the sidewalk rather than between houses (which is trespassing anyway) Unfortunately things just snowballed from there and someone lost their life. The issue on the verdict is that they prosecution was going for a murder charge, and that simply was not the case, and Zimmerman was rightly found not guilty. If they had reduced it to manslaughter or some lesser, non-malice or non-premeditated sort of charge, then they might have been able to get him found guilty.
You’re right, Mr. Paul: Zimmerman deserved charges, a trial in the court of law, to be found guilty and sentenced for the senseless murder of young, Trayvon Martin.
